  1. Governor of the State of Michigan: Served as Governor Jennifer Granholm’s Liaison to the Department of Corrections for Prison Health Services Reform. In this capacity lead the development of a comprehensive strategic plan to dramatically improve the organization, delivery and financing of prison health services. The strategic plan included such elements as Implementing major recommendations from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), utilizing a managed care model for contracting physician and hospital services, expanded use of telemedicine, developing and implementing an Integrated Clinical, Demographical, Financial and Utilization Profile and implementing a comprehensive system wide Continuous Quality Improvement and Medical Safety Program.

  2. Grady Health System and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office: Conducted a feasibility study jointly on behalf of The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and Grady Health System to determine the financial feasibility of Grady Health System operating and managing the DeKalb County Jail Health Center. The study included conducting a thorough assessment of the current practices of the DeKalb County Jail Health Center’s medical, mental and dental health services, determining whether it was financially feasible to both Grady Health System and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for Grady to operate the Jail Health Center. Recommendations were made for a proposed business relationship between the two parties.

  3. Deloitte Consulting , LLP: Served as a subcontractor to Deloitte Consulting who was engaged by a large academic center to conduct a comprehensive project focused on revenue enhancement and operational efficiency improvement; Our focus was improving the operational and financial performance of their primary care clinic network, and their hospital based ambulatory care center. In addition RBJ and Associates worked with the Deloitte Consulting team in communication strategy, change management and quality and performance improvement.

  4. Doctors Community Healthcare Corporation: Assisted Greater Southeast Community Hospital, in Washington, DC during a six-month engagement, by developing a Hospital Improvement Plan, with a team of eight consultants. The focus of the plan was around improvement in quality, services, operational and financial performance.

  5. Howard University Hospital (HUH): Assisted Howard University Hospital in evaluating whether they should consider purchasing Greater Southeast Community Hospital out of bankruptcy. We assisted with establishing the criteria for the strategic objectives to be used in evaluation, prepared a marketing analysis, developed optionsfor organizing, managing and governing Greater Southeast Community Hospital and integrating it into the Howard University Hospital organization.
